Cambodia The "Kingdom Of Wonder" Where You Can Live Like Royalty on as Little as $1,426 a Month (or Less!)

"It's cheap as chips here. Back in Perth, the cost would be ten times higher!"

—Bob Coleman
Aussie Retiree In Cambodia

Dear International Living Australia Reader,

Bob Coleman spent his whole life living and working in Perth, Western Australia.

But it wasn't until he turned 55 that he realised that the world was his oyster.

"Everything I did revolved around work," Bob said.

"Then, one day, I had a eureka moment after I thought of all the places I hadn't seen…and all the countries right on our doorstep. I decided right there and then that something had to change."

With this in mind, Bob began looking at which nearby countries offered the best options for a pensioner to relocate to.

He considered many places in Asia, including Thailand and Malaysia.

But during his travels, he discovered Cambodia…Still close to Australia and it offered even better value than the neighbouring countries.

So he decided to make Cambodia his new home.

It's not hard to understand why.

After all, Cambodia boasts:

Long Overshadowed By Its Past, Cambodia Is Fast-Emerging As One Of The World's Most Exciting And Affordable Expat Destinations

Ask most people about Cambodia—even these days—and you'll probably get comments about Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge.

But all that was almost four decades ago.

And my, how times have changed.

Today's Cambodia bears little resemblance to the Cambodia of nearly 40 years ago.

Thanks to significant (and still ongoing) political reform, Cambodia has become a magnet for budget-minded expats and retirees wishing to enjoy a much better, less stressful lifestyle at a much lower price.

Just ask former Perth resident Bob—now living in Cambodia's booming capital city of Phnom Penh.

"When it comes living costs, Cambodia is cheap as chips. I get by on under $1,426 a month. I could spend less than that but I like to eat out at nice restaurants and socialise a fair bit," Bob said.

"My biggest expense is rent, but I only pay $428 a month for a two-bedroom apartment in one of the nicest neighbourhoods at the centre of Phnom Penh. Back in Perth the cost would be ten times higher!"

"Utilities set me back $100 to $140 and I spend another $25 a month for unlimited Wi-Fi so I can connect on Facebook and Skype with friends and family back home."

But it was more than affordability that attracted Bob to Phnom Penh.

"On my first visit to the city I was so impressed by the mixture of old and new. On one street you will see colonial buildings that are hundreds of years old, on the next street there will be a traditional Khmer market and then round the corner there will be a brand-new skyscraper. The city is developing fast but still has a uniquely Asian atmosphere."

"More importantly, the Khmer people are a really friendly bunch and you can't walk down the street without somebody saying hello or giving you a big smile. I have never felt so welcome in a foreign country."

Thanks to a booming economy, expats don't lack any creature comforts in Phnom Penh, as there are eight modern shopping centres and several different supermarkets selling Western food and fresh groceries.

Bob normally goes to the shops once a week to stock up on the essentials but it never costs him more than $200 a month. He enjoys spending some time with other expats, since there is a community of around 80,000 long-term residents in Phnom Penh alone.

"At times it can feel like I am back at home, but all I have to do is walk down the street and instantly return to the local way of life. This country offers the best of both worlds. The money from my pension would barely cover basic expenses back home but in Phnom Penh I get to live life with a bit of luxury instead."

Bob still has enough left over each month to fund his regular travels, having taken extended trips to Bali, Kuala Lumpur, Phuket, Hong Kong and Ho Chi Minh City in the course of the past year.

Yes…

It Is Almost Mind-Boggling How Affordable AND Comfortable Expat Living In Cambodia Is For Aussie Travellers, Expats And Retirees

Today, thousands and thousands of budget-minded expats and retirees—including a fast-growing group of Aussies—now live part-time and full-time in Cambodia's finest expat havens.

And they get to enjoy one of the most affordable overseas lifestyles you can possibly imagine:

Imagine spending:

Well…if you make Cambodia your new part-time or full-time home, you CAN still find prices this low!

So instead of spending, say, $5,000+ per month (or perhaps more) to enjoy a quality lifestyle in Australia…

…you'd only be spending a small fraction of that in Cambodia…without giving up most of the creature comforts you're used to!

All Over Cambodia, Thousands And Thousands Of Expats Are "Living The Dream" Without Spending A Fortune!

And on just a tiny budget, YOU can live like royalty for less than $1,500 a month in expat havens like:

Phnom Penh—"The Charming City"
Cambodia's bustling capital of Phnom Penh is now home to at least 80,000 expats and foreign residents. And for good reason. Phnom Penh boasts a fantastic restaurant scene, renovated parks, over a dozen new shopping centres, and plentiful top-quality yet extremely affordable places to stay long-term.

Siem Reap—"Angkor Wat Headquarters"
Thanks to Siem Reap's close proximity to the Angkor Wat Temple Complex (one of the wonders of the ancient world), it punches well above its weight economically. Angkor Wat is the country's biggest tourist destination and brings in millions of tourists per year. And by the way, this is great news if you're an expat in Siem Reap…and own one of the many bars or restaurants on or near bustling Pub Street! An estimated 3,000 to 6,000 expats now live in Siem Reap. What's more, many of the larger hotels employ significant amounts of expats while lots of smaller hotels, guesthouses, restaurants and bars are owned by foreigners.

Sihanoukville—"Ultra-Affordable Beachside Living"
Thanks to its stretches of popular beaches and clusters of undeveloped tropical islands nearby, Sihanoukville is Cambodia's most popular coastal resort. After Siem Reap and Phnom Penh it is Sihanoukville where foreign tourists and expats, as well as Cambodians, come to relax and enjoy the ocean breeze. It is currently believed between 2,500 to 5,000 expats live in Sihanoukville on a full time basis…with that number increasing during high season and not including short term visitors or tourists.

Battambang—"Cambodia's Small-Town Gem"
While technically the second largest city in Cambodia, Battambang still retains its colonial small town charm. The province is known as "Cambodia's rice bowl" for the sheer volume of rice that is grown in the rural provincial areas. The most significant influence in the expat community seems to come from the large number of European residents based there with several French owned restaurants, bars and hotels and guesthouses. And while there are a number of other expat orientated restaurants there is very little in the way of nightlife with only a handful of bars around town, although some do try and promote the local art scene in a social way. The number of expats currently living in Battambang is believed to be between 1,000 and 2,000.

Kampot—"The Riverside City Expats Love"
Kampot is a small city with a population of just under 40,000 people known for its world famous Kampot pepper, which has an officially protected geographical indication (GI) and was the first Cambodian product to gain such status. All along the riverside are bars and restaurants that cater to expats and tourists with places like Rikitikkitavi hotel and restaurant garnering rave reviews for their Khmer food with local specialties including Beef Saraman and Fish Amok.

Kep—"The Saint Tropez of Southeast Asia"
Established by the French as Kep-Sur-Mer in 1908 as a coastal retreat to escape the hot season, Kep became known as the "Saint Tropez of Southeast Asia" for its beaches, its seafood restaurants, its "beachside vibe" and other similarities to the seaside resorts of France. Nowadays, Kep is seen by expats more and more as the relaxed option for a coastal holiday than going to the busier beaches and city of Sihanoukville. Aside from Kep's beach its main draw is the Kep crab market where crabs fresh from the sea can be eaten at one of the many wooden shack restaurants that stand above the ocean on a stilted waterfront pier. The restaurants attract locals and expats of all nationalities who enjoy Kep crab cooked in delicious Kampot pepper sauce.

The numbers of expats in Kep and Kampot are naturally quite small given the size of these locations but it is thought there are over 1,000 people of different nationalities living and running small businesses in both places on a full time basis.

And these days…

You Can Enjoy The Very Best Of Cambodia…For Less Than $1,500 A Month!

Just ask some of our readers now living in Cambodia:

"Luxuries That I'd Never Allow Myself At Home Are Easily Affordable…"

"Luxuries that I'd never allow myself at home are easily affordable," says Lina Goldberg, now living in Phnom Penh. "I can have a pair of leather shoes made to order for $22, a dress tailored for not much more than that, and a weekly manicure for $6. For transport I take tuk-tuks, which get me anywhere in Phnom Penh for between $1 and $3."

"My Bills Only Total Around $1,200 A Month…"

"The cost of living in Cambodia is so low that my bills only total around $1,200 a month, without having to budget," says Brett Dvoretz, who lives in Sihanoukville. "I eat out wherever and whenever I want; a drink runs you $2, and I can have a fresh-cooked meal at a restaurant for as little as $2.50."

"$3 Barbeques And 50-Cent Beers In A Lounge Chair On The Beach At Sunset…"

"You can dine on $3 barbeques and 50-cent beers in a lounge chair on the beach at sunset, instead of inside a covered restaurant," says Rob Schneider, who, like Brett, also found his ideal retirement in Sihanoukville. "It's hard to complain when you can rent an air-conditioned, one-bedroom apartment for $250 a month, or a Western-style, furnished studio apartment with a fan for as little as $120 a month. After you've been here a little while, you'll be able to find even better deals through your new Cambodian and expat friends."

"Expats Can Live Comfortably On A Budget Of Around $1,650 To $1,800 A Month…"

Expat Ellie Dyer, who calls Phnom Penh home, says most expats can live comfortably on a budget of around $1,650 to $1,800 a month. "It's easy to tailor life to your means", Ellie says, whether that involves a modest budget "or living the high life at luxury hotels like Raffles Le Royale. Eating out is very affordable and many expats frequent restaurants daily." According to Ellie a good Cambodian barbeque meal can cost less than $6 per person. World cuisines, especially French fare, are well represented in Phnom Penh, with meals costing from $6 to $20.

And by the way, Cambodia's super low prices are just the beginning.

You see, Cambodia also boasts…

Some Of The Most "Expat-Friendly" Visa Options In The Entire World

If you've spent any amount of extended time overseas, you'll know that obtaining a long-term visa can sometimes be a bit of a hassle.

For example, some countries let you only stay 30 days before you've got to go. And there's nothing you can really do about it unless you want to fill out a massive pile of paperwork and go through huge amounts of red tape.

Other countries will permit you to stay a bit longer…for say, 60 or 90 days…before it's time to move on to another country or extend your visa.

But right now, in Cambodia, it is in fact very easy to obtain a long-term visa for three months…six months…or even 12 months at a time.

All you've got to do is follow a few simple steps—and pay a relatively small amount of money—and you'll be able to stay in Cambodia for extended periods of time knowing your visa is completely sorted.

It's an amazingly huge breath of fresh air that Cambodia makes it so easy for expats to stay long-term when compared to other countries…and one of the biggest reasons (other than the super low prices) why so many expats choose to stay in Cambodia long-term.

You seriously won't believe how easy it is to get a one-year visa here and start living here long-term on the super cheap!

NOTE: I'll show you how you can find out what exactly you need to do to get a long-term visa in Cambodia in just a moment.

And here's the thing.

For many expats, getting a visa is often just a first step.

That's because…

Cambodia's ALSO A Great (And EASY) Place For Expats To Start A New "Dream" Business!

Compared to other countries, Cambodia makes it relatively easy for expats to not only obtain a long-term visa…

…but also makes it easy to start and run your own "dream" business to help fund your new life in Cambodia!

And this is a great thing…since a fast-growing number of tourists are passing through Cambodia each year!

You could open your own bar or restaurant on bustling Pub Street in Siem Reap…your own riverside restaurant in Kampot…your own B&B in Kep…a hotel in Phnom Penh…a dive shop on the tropical island of Koh Rong…a tour company in Battambang…or maybe just own a share of a beach bar in Sihanoukville with other expat friends and business partners of yours!

You won't have to worry about filling out endless forms or anything else like that when starting a new business in Cambodia.

So if you've ever dreamed of being an overseas entrepreneur, Cambodia is a near-perfect place to give it a try these days.
